My Viewpoint on Wedding Photography:

Having both been a photographer's assistant for 5 years and then working in the pro photo lab business and finally being a partner in one, has enabled
me to see the final image in my mind and what it will look like on paper.
This technical understanding of the entire photographic process has helped
me greatly as a wedding photographer to produce beautiful images for our
brides and grooms.  It always please me how many of our clients send
letters, emails and online testimonials of how much they enjoyed the images I created for them and having me there on their special day.

Funny Story from Val:

Since my early childhood the cameras fascinated me. Its ability to freeze a moment in time and the opportunity to revisit that moment years later has been magic.  Back then, I could not understand how the camera has this magic ability to be pointed at someone and memorize every single detail in front of it. So I asked my dad about it. He told me that the camera has a special film, which records the light on me and remembers the way I look. The next day I used my lunch money to buy a film.  I brought the film home, unpacked it in a dark bathroom, wrapped it in my coat, and went outside to "take a picture."

It was a beautiful winter’s day so I asked a bunch of my buddies to line up and smile for the picture.    I opened the coat, and quickly exposed the film toward my friends.  Then I put the film back under my coat, and ran inside to see how it came out.  Of course nothing came out and I was very disappointed and told my dad about it.  He laughed with a great roar and then told me all he knew about photography in more detail.  I hung on every word he said with an open mouth and eyes.  That was when a dream to have a camera was born in me, and my parents noticed that.  A month later to my great surprise, I was given a camera as a gift from my parents.  So photography became a serious hobby in my childhood.  Wherever I went I had my camera with me and after school I would run home and develop my film, this time with pictures on it.

Education: Software engineer/ programmer
Years of our staff: 3 as a lead photographer

My Viewpoint on Wedding Photography:

The wedding day is all about the bride & groom!  That is why I focus on (no pun intended) not interfering with the progression of their special day.  I LOVE sneaking a shot of the bride and groom  when they don’t think that the camera is on them.

My Viewpoint on Wedding Photography:

Wedding photography is the most romantic and fulfilling work I have ever done!   It is thrilling to be able to capture a bride at a point in her life when she may be the most beautiful she may ever be.   I have had a passion for photography all my life.  At a very young age, I was captivated by the photo albums my father had expertly assembled.  It inspired me to excel.

I enjoy being part of someone’s special day.  Working with the bride and groom is a very fun part.   We once had a shoot at a lighthouse.    The poses were fun and I captured many spontaneous images.  The client’s were thrilled.

My Viewpoint on Wedding Photography:

I like a documentary style (photo-journalistic) because of the ability it has to tell a story of the day.  Being able to share in and capture the most important day of someone’s life is probably the BEST part of photography a wedding.  Being able to capture that special moment that the couple will share….

My Viewpoint on Wedding Photography:

I have been photographing weddings for 5 years, but the camera has been a close friend of me since I was 10 yearsold. I have been involved in photographing many events since I was a kid (such as military balls, bar mitzvahs, birthday parties, and other business events), but weddings are really special--they are once in a lifetime! As the photographer, I have the privilege to capture the essence of the day--the joy, the tears, and the fun! In reality, the bride, groom andtheir family and friends do all my work for me--they create a wonderful day that I can capture with my camera.

Our History

Perskie Photographics is one of the trusted names in wedding photography in the country.  Founded in 1889 by Jacob Perskie, whose son, Leon, and grandson, Jay, has succeeded him in the business. Jay's daughters Hannah & Julia Perskie are now just beginning with us as the 4th generation of Perskie Photographers.  We are recommended by many vendors as a wedding photographer such as Harbor Magic (Pier 5, the Brookshire, Admiral Fell Inn), The 1840’s Ballroom, Gramercy Mansion, The Tremonts, The Engineer's Club, The Belvedere, Top of the Bay and Sheraton Baltimore North just to name a few.  During the  120 years we have been in business we have been chosen as "The Official" photographer to five U.S. Presidents (Roosevelt, Truman, Kennedy, Johnson & Carter – [you may see some of  our work in their Presidential Libraries]) as well as many Governors, mayors, and numerous celebrities.   We have been named a "Promise of Excellence" photo lab by Kodak and a Fuji “Studio Master” Pro Lab.  We started our own Professional Photo Lab in 1974 to insure the best quality and care for our clients.  In 2006 we started making the albums right here in our lab.  In fact, today our lab has professional photographers from Alaska to Ireland who send their images for our staff to design,  print and bind them into the kind of albums that we create for our clients. Therefore, our clients accrue many benefits since we do not need to outsource to other. Our small and excellent staff of wedding photographers go through rigorous training to insure great results and a wonderful experience (see our Testimonial page). In 1997 we moved into our building on Belair road called "The Glass Slipper Wedding Center". In 1999 we began to offer digital art and are now offering more innovative techniques using this latest technology. We use only the finest professional photo paper and materials. Our new digital technology adds a breadth of templates and other artwork features that few are able to offer. Using these new technologies and our staff's eye for detail and beauty, you can be sure that we will make your wedding day one that you will never forget.
